Whew! I was afraid that one of those literalists would "get away" with not literalizing that portion of Scripture (and then I could judge them :)?!)....no, life is too complex and people are not "Christian robots", but human beings. Good post!
Oh my god. Over at Cedar Generation they are absolutely convinced that its all metaphorical! They are reassuring themselves right now that Obama's health care plans must fail--and ought to fail--because they will help the poor and the helpless and that would be bad. Those helpless people will just become evil, weak, beggars and that's totally against...well, its against Ayn Rand's view of the world but they seem to have god confused with Rand so its all good.
