Allow me take the NY Times perspective of Jon's event based on their reaction to the 8/28 event:
"Pah! homogeneous thinking is overrated. Why would we want to put all of the producers of weird t-shirts, signs and pamphlets out of business? Isn't unemployment high enough? Doing this would end up negatively impacting women and children. The money for the event, and the money made from advertisers, should instead be given to poor, single mothers. How is it that everything this demagogue does ends up killing minorities, women and children? They don't think people don't have the right to express themselves? They must be racist, misogynist, baby-hating and fascist. Just what kind of person listens to his destructive, corporate-funded rantings?"
I've been amusing myself browsing through the Metafilter thread where they're brainstorming sign ideas for the rally.
Some good ones for Stewart's rally: ACTUALLY TAXES ARE THE LOWEST SINCE TRUMAN. SERIOUSLY ACTUALLY SENIORS ALREADY HAVE SOCIALIST HEALTHCARE, IT'S PRETTY COOL ACTUALLY THE FOUNDING FATHERS LIKED FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WE SHOULD PROBABLY HELP THE POOR A BIT ♔ NOT SO LOUD, PLEASE GOOGLE CONFIRMATION BIAS I have carefully checked the spelling of my sign. Some Americans are Muslims. HELPING EACH-OTHER ISN'T SOCIALISM HANG ON GUYS IT'S MORE COMPLICATED THAN THAT I DISAGREE WITH YOUR OPINION BUT YOU RAISE SOME INTERESTING POINTS
And for Colbert's: PAVED ROADS ARE SOCIALISM I DON'T HATE OBAMA BECAUSE HE'S BLACK. ACTUALLY I FORGET WHY. HE IS BLACK THOUGH GLENN BECK WILL PROTECT ME FROM MORMONS I HAVE A DREAM WHERE IMMIGRANTS ARE COMING TO STEAL MY GOLDLINE ANTIQUE COINS DOWN WITH GOVERNMENT-RUN GOVERNMENT Don't build the Freedom Tower at the site of my Mosque! REASON is just one letter away from TREASON!
Nah... It's still the same Christian Right: The ones who worship a regime that creates a war of waste through their lies, while at the same time, declares a regime which is trying to solve health care problems, "the anti-christ".
