At church on Wednesday Mel alerted me to this interesting story from the world of religion.
Apparently, in France, to help Catholics with Lenten confession, a "Line of the Lord" hotline has been created. When you call a male voice greets you with the following options:
"For advice on confessing, press one. To confess, press two. To listen to some confessions, press three."The Line of the Lord ("Le Fil du Seigneur") costs 0.34 euros (46 cents) a minute. According the Vanity Fair after you confess your sins the voice will walk you through some Hail Marys as a nod toward penance.
The hotline was created by a Parisian telephone service provider. It's been roundly condemned by the French bishops
Do you think anyone would pay 46 cents per minute to hear people describe their accomplishments over the previous week?
