88

For all you Book of Common Prayer fans, you'll have noted that Psalm 88 is the morning psalm today.

What a way to start the day!

(Programming Note: Psalm 88 is a favorite of Winter Christians)

  1. Psalm 88 is one of the 6 Psalms of the Orthodox Church Matins (Morning prayer) which transitions us from the darkness and judgment of the night into the light of God in the morning where we sing "God is the Lord who has shown us the Light, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good for His mercy endures forever... etc.". Indeed a beautiful way to start the day.

  2. Again, being clueless when I started with the BCP I just bought the only one on sale at my local Christian bookstore: It is the 1979 edition (the same as the online version I linked to in my BCP post). How it relates to the older editions I don't know.

  3. Thanks very much for your swift reply! It's much appreciated. I've really enjoyed the articles since my friend has introduced me to your blog.
