Instead of Loving What You Think Is Peace

"So instead of loving what you think is peace, love others and love God above all. And instead of hating the people you think are warmakers, hate the appetites and the disorder in your own soul, which are the causes of war. If you love peace, then hate injustice, hate tyranny, hate greed—but hate these things in yourself, not in another."

  1. I believe that we tend to hate in others what we hate most about ourselves. We just have a hard time seeing it in us. This causes us to stack ourselves against others so that we don't seem so bad.

  2. Thanks for this quote. It prompted this post about the guy who just jacked my car: http://www.joshbarkey.com/2013/11/i-am-you-and-you-are-me-and-we-are-kind.html
