Psalm 13

"How long?"

Out at the prison this week, I made the point that, in may ways, faith boils down to patience, learning to wait upon the Lord. Faith involves a lot of waiting. A lot of prayers asking, "How long?"

And it can be excruciating, this waiting. You feel it in the lament of Psalm 13: "How long will you hide for face from me?" That is a very hard thing, feeling that God is hiding from you.

But there is comfort in asking the question, in crying out, in asking God to come out of hiding. We don't have to wait in silence. There is a conversation to be had.
